October brought more flower onto BulkMarket than any month we've tracked, and most prices barely moved. Indoor, greenhouse and outdoor bigs all finished within about 1% of September, and greenhouse held flat after four straight declines. Light assist was the exception, down 17% to $369/lb as the number of sellers more than doubled.
The BulkMarket Index tracks the average asking price for bigs in the four main grow types, every month, from listings posted by license-verified California operators. It measures what operators are asking, not what deals close at, and one platform's listings are a sample of the market rather than the whole of it. Read it as a snapshot. Listing and seller counts sit next to every number so you can judge how much weight it carries.

Operators posted 195 flower listings in October, up from 137 in September and the most in any month so far. Listed weight hit about 13,700 lb, well past August's 12,000 and the largest month on record. Greenhouse carried half of it: about 6,960 lb across 60 lots averaging 116 lb each, roughly double September's lot size. No trim was listed at all.
Greenhouse: the slide stops
Greenhouse bigs held at $336/lb, the same as September. That ends a four-month decline that took about $30 a month off the average through the summer.
| Month | Avg listed | Listings | Total lb listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| May 2026 | $458/lb | 7 | 251 |
| Jun 2026 | $425/lb | 10 | 629 |
| Jul 2026 | $390/lb | 21 | 2,581 |
| Aug 2026 | $356/lb | 49 | 6,113 |
| Sep 2026 | $336/lb | 37 | 2,003 |
| Oct 2026 | $336/lb | 60 | 6,959 |
What stands out is that it held while supply more than tripled. October had the most greenhouse pounds listed of any month, from 18 sellers, and the average didn't move. Greenhouse is now just above where it listed last November ($333/lb) and above last winter's low ($288/lb in January, on four listings).
Light assist: more sellers, lower prices
Light assist bigs fell from $446 to $369/lb, the lowest average since January. Last month we wrote that if more lots posted in October, some of September's gain would likely come back. More than all of it did: October's figure sits below August's $392 as well.
The bigger story is who's listing. September's light assist number came from 6 sellers. October's came from 14, the most we've seen in the category, posting 29 lots and about 2,100 lb. That makes October's figure a sturdier read than September's, and it suggests September's jump owed something to a small group of sellers at the top of the range. Nine listings were excluded as price outliers, the most of any category this month, which tells you asking prices in light assist are spread wide right now.
Indoor: steady through the heaviest month yet
Indoor bigs listed at $839/lb on 90 listings from 21 sellers, the most indoor listings in any month. The average has now stayed between $768 and $871/lb for twelve straight months, and October landed close to the 12-month average of $823.
The gap between indoor and greenhouse narrowed slightly to about $503/lb, still 2.5 times, the same multiple as September.
Outdoor: the first wave
Outdoor bigs listed at $329/lb, up 1%. More useful than the price is the depth: 5 sellers this month against 2 in September, so this is the first outdoor figure we'd treat as more than a couple of operators' pricing. Lots ran large, about 124 lb on average.
Eleven listings is still early. Dried outdoor flower from this season's harvest is only starting to clear drying, trim and testing, and we expect most of it to reach listings in November and December.
Buyer interest, and how to read it
Inquiries per listing fell in every category except outdoor. Indoor drew 1.5 per listing in October against 2.8 for September's listings, greenhouse 0.9 against 2.3. Part of that is real. With 195 lots up instead of 137, each one competes for a smaller share of attention, and greenhouse buyers in particular have more to choose from than at any point this year.
Trends, and what November could bring
This section puts October in context and makes a read on November. It's our interpretation of listing data and published indexes, not a forecast, and we'll check it against November's numbers in the next report.
| Index | October | Aug to Oct avg | 12-month avg | Last three months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Indoor bigs | $839 | $822 | $823 | Up, then flat |
| Light assist bigs | $369 | $395 | $456 | Up, then down sharply |
| Greenhouse bigs | $336 | $343 | $354 | Down, then flat |
| Outdoor bigs | $329 | $328 | $312 | Steady, sample growing |
Harvest season so far
Nationally, the Croptober price pattern looks flatter this year. The U.S. Cannabis Spot Index published by Cannabis Benchmarks moved between $1,092 and $1,132/lb across its five October reports, closing the month at $1,132 after a 3.3% weekly gain. Last year the same index peaked at $1,200/lb in early October and was down to $1,119 by mid-month. This October never saw that peak, so there has been less to fall from.
| Report date | Spot Index ($/lb) | Weekly change |
|---|---|---|
| Sep 4, 2026 | $1,088 | +1.1% |
| Sep 11, 2026 | $1,108 | +1.8% |
| Sep 18, 2026 | $1,097 | -1.0% |
| Sep 25, 2026 | $1,123 | +2.4% |
| Oct 2, 2026 | $1,112 | -1.0% |
| Oct 9, 2026 | $1,092 | -1.8% |
| Oct 16, 2026 | $1,104 | +1.1% |
| Oct 23, 2026 | $1,096 | -0.7% |
| Oct 30, 2026 | $1,132 | +3.3% |
The Spot Index is national, covers all grow types and uses a different method from the BulkMarket Index, so its dollar levels aren't comparable to ours. What lines up is the shape: in both, October was a month of large supply and small price moves rather than a sharp break. Cannabis Benchmarks' implied forward price for November sits at $1,110/lb, close to where the index is now.
Our read for November
Indoor should stay in its band. It absorbed the heaviest indoor listing volume of the year in October without moving. The thing to watch is buyer interest per listing once October's numbers mature. If it stays well below summer levels, the next move is more likely down than up.
Greenhouse looks close to a floor for now. It held with record supply on offer, and it's already near last November's level. Last winter it drifted to about $290 to $300/lb by December and January, so a slow slide in that direction is the most likely path if listing volume stays high.
Light assist has the widest range of outcomes. October's average comes from a much broader set of sellers, which we'd trust more than September's. With nine outlier listings excluded, asking prices are scattered, and another month of 20-plus listings would tell us where they settle.
Outdoor is the category to watch. If November follows the usual harvest timing, outdoor listings and sellers should climb sharply. Last winter's outdoor bigs listed around $290 to $310/lb on small samples, against $329 now.
A few things would change this read: indoor listing counts falling back below 60, greenhouse dropping more than 5% in a month, or outdoor arriving at prices well under $300.
On the network
181 license holders were active on BulkMarket in October, an all-time high, up from 156 in September. 51 operators posted listings, also a record, and 34 of them had posted in an earlier month. The network added 27 verified operators, including 13 cultivators, 6 distributors, 3 retailers and 3 manufacturers, for 414 in total.
How the BulkMarket Index works
- The Index covers bigs in four grow types: indoor, light assist, greenhouse and outdoor. Each value is the average listed $/lb across that month's listings, not weighted by pounds.
- Prices are listed or asking prices, not closed deal prices.
- Listings priced more than 33% from their category's median are excluded as outliers. In October, 20 listings were excluded across all categories.
- Change compares each value to the previous calendar month. When a category had no listings that month, no change is shown.
- Listing and seller counts are shown for every value. Fewer than three sellers is marked as a thin sample.
- Inquiries are counted each time someone taps the message button on a listing. That makes them a gauge of buyer interest, not an exact count of messages delivered or deals discussed. Views and inquiries keep accumulating after a listing posts, so the latest month always reads low.
- October covers listings posted October 1 to 31, 2026. Only BulkMarket listings are included, so operators who don't list here aren't captured.
