Every profile you deal with on BulkMarket claims to be a licensed California cannabis business. Verification is how that claim gets checked instead of just trusted.

The Lookup Is Live

When you enter a license number on BulkMarket, it doesn't get checked against some list BulkMarket built and maintains on its own. It's checked directly against California's own public license database, the same records the DCC keeps. If the state doesn't have it on file as active, BulkMarket won't show it as active either.

How You Actually Get Verified

  1. Find the license

BulkMarket confirms the license exists and is active against the state's own database.

  2. Prove you hold it

A one-time code goes to the phone number or email address the state has on file for that license, not whatever contact info you enter into a form. Enter it correctly and your profile is marked verified.

  3. Use manual review if you can't access that contact

Upload a photo of your license and a METRC manifest. BulkMarket's team reviews it by hand, typically within about a day.

Finding a license in the state database proves the license exists. It doesn't prove the person sitting at the keyboard is the one who holds it, that's what the code step is actually for.

What Verified Actually Gets You

A verified profile shows as Verified next to your license type, Verified Cultivator, Verified Distributor, whatever applies. It's also the gate for using BulkMarket at full capacity: browsing full profiles and reaching out to other operators requires a verified license, not just a claimed one.

What BulkMarket Is and Isn't Doing Here

Worth being precise about this: verification means BulkMarket independently checks a license number against public state data and confirms you control the contact info on file for it. No government agency is contacted in that process, and no transaction is being facilitated, tracked, or processed by BulkMarket at any point. It's a marketplace and networking platform, not a party to any deal made between operators.

A verified badge confirms the license is real, active, and controlled by the account holder. That's all it confirms. BulkMarket checks licenses. It doesn't vouch for the people holding them. Being licensed doesn't automatically make someone good to work with, and BulkMarket has no way to know who pays late, ghosts a delivery, or shows up short on weight. Do your own homework before you commit to anything new, the same way you would with anyone else in this business, starting with how to vet a new connection.

That's the whole point of doing it this way. You're not trusting BulkMarket's word that someone's licensed. You're trusting the same state records everyone in this industry already answers to.
