Controlling the Narrative

The state of the market

Since Prop 64, California's wholesale cannabis market has been a rollercoaster of mostly downward spirals, and at times, a few inclines that build momentum for the downward spirals. It's been sobering to say the least.

But good signs are on the horizon as speculation around the industry is to anticipate fewer deps and an increase in wholesale prices that could last throughout the season. This is simple market dynamics — a supply and demand that creates a hard to ignore fact — there's less weed, and because of that prices are going up.

Who controls the narrative?

That being said, the fate of our livelihoods still lies in the hands of the buyer, who ultimately through any knowing of their own or not, shapes the narrative of where things are at in the market. We're told what prices are. And although we're in a refreshing moment of seller control, this dynamic is a constant. How can we change this scenario?

No matter where you are in the state — or the country for that matter — we've all been through the same buyer conversations. "I can get those cheaper" or "I get better ones from" — insert said place. That's the speculation that more than anything influences our market, largely unfounded and self-rewarding claims on where things are at.

It's 2026, you don't have to accept assertions that devalue your work to a point of indentured servitude. Like many across our space say — "we need to come together," "we need to unite," "we need to..." Yes we do. Instead of allowing our value to be based on hearsay, let's have it be based in fact — real data that is provable, in a space that removes all gatekeeping, all obstacles in between you and making the most for your material.

That space exists. And it was made right in Humboldt.

Where BulkMarket fits in

This is where BulkMarket comes in. Think of our platform like a farmers alliance with a built-in marketplace. One that all of our members can utilize to set common prices. Here all of our menus are in one place, and so are our wholesale opportunities. No barriers. No onboarding calls. No METRC integration. No one trying to take a cut.

For rural farmers this is a free tool that gives you the chance to have your menu reach buyers across the state. No matter your location, you have a 24/7 showroom. The moment you have material ready, upload media and info to the market and users from distros, to manufacturers, to micros white-labeling, are all instantly alerted. You control the pricing, and in turn, help control the narrative on where things are at.

Get involved

Are you a brand or farm with a successful retail lane? A cultivator with plenty of options for bulk sales? That's ok — we still need your help. Join, share your menu, show us the high tickets needed to even entertain wholesale, set up your page in the directory, shout us out, tell a friend.

Spread the word that we have a platform made right in Humboldt County that can actually help farmers make money. With the way things are going, price trends will naturally be more favorable this year. Still, that shouldn't stop us from utilizing our position in a way that can actually work.
